This project was undertaken as part of a university challenge that involved creating a cover for Tame Impala's song 'Powerlines.' My focus was on capturing the essence of the music and translating it into a visual design. Below, I outline the process and key design decisions.
Inspiration:
The song 'Powerlines' by Tame Impala served as the primary source of inspiration. I wanted the cover to convey the sense of energy and motion evoked by the song.
Visual Creation:
To execute this vision, I employed digital tools, particularly Cinema 4D and Photoshop. In Cinema 4D, I generated three-dimensional figures that would serve as central elements of the cover. The three-dimensionality added depth and dynamism to the design, in line with the song's ambiance.
Color Palette:
The color choices were based on the color wheel and color theory. For the background, I opted for a combination of triadic colors to achieve harmony and contrast. As for the lines of movement, I chose a tetradic combination, incorporating the color yellow to infuse energy.
Final Result:
The result is a dynamic and vibrant cover. The lines of colors amidst the clouds capture the emotion of the song, and the balanced color palette adds visual cohesion.
This project reflects my ability to blend music and graphic design to communicate emotions and narratives. Thank you for your interest in this creation.
